Cultural Volatility Index

the shortest useful definition / 2025-09-25

What is the CVI? The CVI is how you find live players. Um, based on certain indicators, we're trying to find who in the world is going to be a mover and shaker.

The idea starts earlier than the index itself. A market surface became an ocean, then the same language was applied to people moving together. Later, the question narrowed: which places and clusters are beginning to produce people with motion before everyone else knows their names?

before the name settled / 2024-11-19

A volatility surface can be thought of as the surface of the ocean and underworld money and its subsidiaries understand the wave mechanics and propagation of culture etc etc you have heard it before but I’m liking the ocean vibe a little bit and it’s not even really that we’re focusing on the ocean it’s really just that oceans have waves and currents and so do markets and culture and like people as a mass as a group do yk I see a volatility surface undulating cresting

right now the priority should be building this space and site and really just making SOMETHING and getting it out there.

present contradiction

The implementation outran the sensors. There is a substantial machine for displaying and interrogating a score, but it is not yet observing the world. Until the ingestion layer exists, the durable part of CVI is the question itself: how to notice live players and forming clusters early, with evidence strong enough to survive Aaron’s own skepticism.
